Planning for Sustainable Growth
The Strategic Planning Section aims to create a high quality urban and sustainable environment for the Town and its residents. This is achieved through the preparation and implementation of long term strategic plans and policies, and the assessment of development proposals against the relevant criteria.
The Section predominantly conducts strategic planning studies and research to improve land use planning and policy development in the Town of Claremont. It promotes community awareness of, and participation in, the development of strategic planning policies which advance Council's objectives for the future development of the municipality.
In addition, the department provides land use planning input into the strategic planning process of Council leading to the development and review of urban and regional planning strategies, development guidelines, Council policies and amendments to the Claremont Planning Scheme and other documents.
